The pump, done properly. Pointed, round and square toes in Soft KID suede with a nap that writes to the touch, aniline lamb Nappa that deepens with wear, and metallics that hold the light. The pump is the shoe a wardrobe is built around, and the hardest one to get right. Blak Sand makes it with pointed, round and square toes, in Soft KID suede with a nap that marks to the touch, in aniline lamb Nappa that deepens with wear, and in metallic leathers that crease and catch the light.

Every heel is wrapped in Italian leather veneer and flared slightly at the base, so the weight sits under the foot rather than behind it. The lining is lambskin. Underfoot, four millimetres of memory foam over three of latex — seven millimetres, which is the difference between a pump worn to dinner and one worn all day.

The leather is tanned in our own tannery, Gold-rated by the Leather Working Group. Nothing synthetic touches her skin. Pumps for women, designed and made in India.
