A boot is judged at the shaft and the instep. Ours are cut so the shaft follows the calf instead of standing away from it, and the zip is set where it will not catch a stocking.

Ankle boots on a heel of thirty-five to fifty-five millimetres, mid-calf and knee-high on a flat or a low block. Aniline lamb Nappa, Silky suede, hand-painted patina and shrunken grain. Lambskin lining the full length of the shaft - a boot holds the foot for longer than anything else in the wardrobe, so what it is lined with matters more. Four millimetres of memory foam over three of latex, and heels wrapped in Italian leather veneer.
